About Us
At the Ceylon-German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI),
We embark on a journey that seamlessly blends tradition with innovation, creating a dynamic space for cutting-edge technical education. Our commitment to excellence is not just a tradition; it’s a way of embracing the future.
Our Vision
To become the best Automotive Training Institute in South Asia.
Our Mission
Systematically develop the technology related to Automobile and other technical trades and provide training to students to be appropriately equipped to perform at the highest level of acceptance and thereby maintain the standard as the center of excellence for training in the Automotive sector of Sri Lanka.
Our Story
Established in 1959, CGTTI started its journey at the central workshops of the Transport Board in Werahera. Rooted in an agreement between the governments of Germany and Sri Lanka, we began as a response to the growing need for skilled technicians in maintaining the bus fleet of the Transport Board.
From our early days managed by German directors, we’ve evolved into an institute led by local talent. Shifting to Moratuwa in 1974, CGTTI has undergone various administrative transitions and is currently under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development.
Evaluation and Certification
Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our evaluation and testing processes. Full-time trainees undergo a comprehensive Final Trade Test, ensuring they meet the high standards set by both CGTTI and NAITA. Part-time trainees face rigorous written and practical tests at the culmination of their courses.
Innovative Training Programs
CGTTI doesn’t just offer courses; we craft experiences. Our special training courses are tailored to the unique needs of private and public sector organizations. Clients like Sri Lanka Army, Air Force, Navy, Sri Lankan Airlines, and several others trust us to enhance the skills of their technical staff.
