Established in 1959, the Ceylon-German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI) stands as the leading institution in Sri Lanka for cultivating skilled technicians in Automobile Engineering and related trades. Our journey began at the central workshops of the Transport Board of Sri Lanka in Werahera, as a result of a visionary agreement between the governments of the Federal Republic of Germany and Sri Lanka. This collaboration aimed to provide crucial training assistance for the maintenance of the bus fleet, then belonging to the Ceylon Transport Board (CTB).
In 1974, CGTTI found its new home in Moratuwa, evolving into a center of excellence for automotive education. Initially overseen by a German director and staff, the institute transitioned to local management in 1976, with a Sri Lankan Director/Principal and dedicated local personnel taking the helm.
CGTTI’s journey has seen it entrusted to various ministries, including the Presidential Secretariat and the Ministry of Transport. As of November 2007, CGTTI is proudly under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development.
Today, CGTTI in Moratuwa stands as a,
beacon of automotive education, offering state-of-the-art training that aligns with industry standards. We continue to shape the future of skilled technicians, fostering a legacy of expertise, innovation, and excellence in the field of Automobile Engineering.
Join us at CGTTI, Moratuwa, and embark on a transformative educational experience that prepares you for success in the dynamic world of automotive technology.
