Requirement
- Age: Between 16 & 22 years
- Education: Passed in 06 subjects at the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination including Sinhala/Tamil language (Medium of Instruction) and Mathematics in one sitting.

First Year

- Safety takes precedence as trainees are introduced to the basics of workshop safety protocols.
- Learn the fundamentals of measuring, marking, and the proper use of various hand tools.
- Bench Fitting Work:
- Engage in hands-on bench fitting work at our basic workshop, honing your skills in precision workmanship.
- Develop accuracy, punctuality, and cleanliness in your work, setting the foundation for disciplined craftsmanship.
- Physical Exercises:
- Start each day with physical exercises, promoting discipline, motivation, and a healthy mindset for the day’s tasks.
- Tool Familiarity:
- Gain familiarity with essential hand tools, power tools, and instruments used in various trades.
- Learn the proper handling and application of files, hand and power hacksaws, chisels, drills, riveting tools, taps, dies, reamers, spanners, hammers, screwdrivers, center punches, and various measuring instruments.
- Hands-On Project:
- Undertake a practical project – the production of a vice – serving as a tangible memento of your achievements during the basic training.
- Apply acquired skills to create a functional and useful tool.

Second Year
- Introduction of safety equipments
- Cut steel by Oxy-acetylene/Oxy fuel flame
- Controlling of Arc length
- Weld steel plates by manual metal arc welding in 1F, 2F, 3F, 4F, Open Corner joint (flat/horizontal position)
- Explain different types of flames
- Blind weld and fusion runs with filler rods
- Weld steel plates by Oxy Acetylene welding in Flange joint, corner joint, butt joint
- Perform soldering & brazing
Final Year
First 06 Months of Industrial Training
- Metal Fabrication
- Construction of some parts according to the plan
- Surface grinding
Second 06 Months of Institutional Training
- Cut metal by Plasma cutting process
- Weld steel plates by manual metal arc welding in 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G
- Weld steel plates by Oxy-Acetylene welding in vertical position and horizontal position.
- Weld Aluminium Plates by Oxy-Acetylene welding
- Weld stainless steel plates by Tig welding in all position
- Weld non ferrous metals by Tig welding in all position
- Weld steel plates by Mag welding in all position
- Weld non ferrous metals by Mig welding in all position
- Weld cast iron
